Frequently Asked Questions

Waive

If you are in a student group that is required to have health insurance and if you do not want the Student Health Insurance Plan a waiver will need to be entered EVERY semester you are enrolled with ISU:

Waivers for OPT, Graduate Assistants, or Newly Arrived in the U.S. will be HONORED for 31 days after the day of hire or arrival.

International Students

ISU requires nonimmigrant international students (dependents are not required) to purchase and maintain coverage through the ISU health insurance plan for the duration of their tenure at the university. As an international student, you will automatically be enrolled in the ISU Student and Scholar Health Insurance due to this requirement.

NOTE: Insurance plans purchased outside of the university may be used for supplemental coverage, but CANNOT be substituted for the ISU plan.
